About

Rooted in Compassion. Driven by Integrity. Inspired by Resilience.

Founded in 2023 by Silviana Tarigan and co-founder Yosia PratamaYayasan Kayu Aras Indonesia was established with a mission to uplift the underserved, restore dignity to the forgotten, and bring healing to the most remote corners of Bali. Inspired by “Kayu Aras”—the Indonesian name for cedar wood, known for its strength and spiritual symbolism—the foundation embodies resilience, connection, and continuity in every step it takes.

Headquartered in Bali, Yayasan Kayu Aras Indonesia focuses on assisting marginalized communities often overlooked by public systems: prison inmatesrural orphans, and families of Indonesian migrant workers abroad. Our approach goes beyond charity—we build long-term pathways for healing and transformation.

We believe that no one should be left behind—regardless of their background, location, or circumstances. Every life matters. Every voice deserves to be heard.

Why ‘Kayu Aras’?

“Kayu Aras,” or cedar wood, is both our symbol and our philosophy:

  • Resilience – Like the cedar, we stand strong through every storm.
  • Connection – We unify communities, generations, and lives.
  • Integrity – We operate with transparency, purpose, and trust.
  • Continuity – We build sustainable programs that create lasting change.

Our Areas of Impact

  • Prison Outreach: Mental health support, rehabilitation programs, and reintegration assistance for inmates in Bali’s under-resourced prisons. We bring hope and structure to lives often forgotten by society.
  • Orphan Support: Delivering essential supplies, educational tools, and creative healing experiences for children in orphanages—especially those in rural or mountainous areas.
  • Migrant Worker Support: Providing overseas Indonesian workers with emotional care, rights education, and reintegration support, while assisting their families back home with financial literacy and child mentoring programs.
  • Disaster Relief: Deploying emergency aid such as food, hygiene kits, and shelter materials during floods, earthquakes, and fires, followed by long-term recovery programs.
  • Elderly Care Outreach: Supporting abandoned or low-income elderly individuals with wellness kits, home visits, and spiritual companionship—especially those in remote Bali villages where aging support is minimal.
  • Community-Based Livelihood Projects: Partnering with villagers, returnee migrants, and caregivers to build sustainable income sources through micro-enterprise mentorships, skills training, and access to ethical trade channels.

From the hills of Karangasem to migrant shelters in the Middle East, our mission is clear: to bring healing where it’s needed most.
